Welcome to my website. I am a clinical psychologist who works with adults, and I’ve been practicing in Atlanta since the late 1990s. I see clients who are struggling with a diverse range of life challenges — including career, relationship, and existential issues — as well as anxiety, depression, and addictions. I see both men and women in individual therapy. I also see couples.

Am I the right therapist for you?

I have a strong background in scientific psychology. This includes knowledge and training in social psychology (the study of normal interpersonal behavior), cognitive psychology (decision-making and other mental processes), and developmental psychology as well as clinical psychology. I draw upon the full breadth of my knowledge every day, as I try to help clients understand the issues they are confronting. Too many mental health providers believe therapy is one thing and science is another. That is total nonsense. If you doubt that science unlocks an entirely new and deeper level of understanding of human behavior and relationships, I invite you to read my new book, Unfaithful Minds, published by Prometheus. Even if infidelity has never been an issue in your life or relationships, you’ll learn a great deal about the science of personality, relationships, decision-making, and behavior. I am confident that, after reading it, you’ll see why a therapist who lacks broad knowledge of psychological science is limited in their ability to help others understand or change their behavior or improve their relationships.

What kind of therapy do I offer? If a client is experiencing acute symptoms (e.g., anxiety, depression, drug cravings), I pull from a variety of therapeutic models — including cognitive-behavioral therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) — to help them get their symptoms under control. But I also have clients who aren’t necessarily experiencing symptoms and rely on me more as a consultant — to help them make sense of events in their lives, make changes in their behavior, and understand what’s happening in their relationships.
